We departed Vieques early Wednesday afternoon and returned back to San Juan.  I had called our next resort to arrange for a pick-up at the airport and learned the charge would be $60 per person round trip (damn taxi union), so we opted to rent a car.  Our resort, the Wyndham Rio Mar, was about twenty miles east of San Juan and we figured the rental would also save us a fortune getting to Old San Juan.  As we landed at the airport we figured that we may as well visit Old ...

Around the block in Victoria

I love living in this city, I am very lucky.  There is so much beauty that surrounds this city, and Vancouver Island in general.  I work right downtown (first job), close to the inner harbour.  There is much crammed into a block, lots to see, and many things to do.  There is the Greyhound bus station, goes anywhere pretty much (review to come later).  Then there are restaurants about every half block, government street had lots to see, Empress hotel, and ...

I had been driving from Rockton, which is on I-90 at the IL/WI border, switched to I-94, and had just crossed into Minnesota, about a mile or two after crossing the St. Croix actually, when a massively horrible sound makes its way from my rear passenger brake casing (or, whatever it's called) to my ear.  I am in the left of 3 or 4 lanes, so I pulled off to the left.  I couldn't see anything wrong as I looked my car over, but I knew it couldn't be good with the noise it made.  I...

Daddy (my husband Dancr) wanted to go for a walk with the family ... though I was partially interested to going shopping for some flowers (to fill the garden) ... but I put my wishes aside and went for the ride where he took pictures of Malard Ducks, Canada Geese, and the usual Seagulls ... then I snatched the camera and took a picture of the lake (to be named later) and many flowers (of course) but I really had a KEEN interest in the vaiety of bugs that were 'feasting' on the ...

I was eager to start my day today, I felt like it was going to be a good day!... I have no reason to back it up other than finding a quarter in the back seat of my car this morning. I was trying to get all the crap that was not needed for this trip out of my car. In other words make more room in the back seat so that I can throw more crap in the back seat on this trip. Last night was a battle of what to wear in Vegas... I'll be honest - I only have a couple goto shirts. I was pretty much...

Today was a long day.  After a long night partying with our friends in Beijing, and even making some new ones, we woke at 9am.  It took a bit to get packed and then left the hotel. The International Airport for Beijing is about an hour from the city center, which I didn't realize.  We got to the airport in pleanty of time but spent nearly three times what I thought it would cost (125 yuan).  The lines were of course long.  While we were checking our bags we had to reor...

There are a lot of fun things to do with the help of Mother Nature's resources. There are so many things you can do & see. Vermont takes time to see! Enjoy favorite pastimes in the Summer such as hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, or paddling and of course playing a round of golf on smoothly groomed hillsides can be enjoyed throughout the state in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Join other "leaf-peepers" to gaze in wonder at the brilliant colors during Fall Foliage season or go skiing or sn...

This is a combination of journals that I wrote during that time along with my own memories.Today is my last day home.  I will leave this evening, get a hotel room close to the Indianapolis Airport and fly back to my other home across the ocean, leaving early tomorrow morning.  The past two weeks have been surreal with a combination of jetlag, sleep-deprivation and the adrenaline of knowing  that these moments will be the last moments I will ever see my father alive.  The o...

Mar dropped me off at the Honolulu Airport around 8 pm.  Boarded the plane without any hassles and yay I got an aisle seat for my bum knee!  I sat next to a guy who used to be in the German Navy.  We chatted about traveling.  I got some rest on the plane but it wasn't a deep sleep.  I AM nucking futs...I went straight to work after landing back in Los Angeles Monday morning...CRAZY!!!

I Flew from Liverpool to JFK. On the first day we had a bit of walk around, but it was absolute hammering it down with rain so I ran into the Guggenheim for a couple of artistic hours. It was great in there. The building was the most impresssive, though. The city is very alive and there is so much to do every night of the week. I saw phantom of the Opera on Broadway, went to the cinema, and got drunk a few times! Unfortunately, our timing wasn't the best and we had to move on before the weeke...

The last time I went for a run was in Selcuk, Turkey, some nine and a half months ago.  I’m beginning to regret my decision to abandon the effort on the road.  I mean, I did manage to get some exercise while traveling.  I stomped around Europe, climbed a mountain, trekked to Machu Picchu and hoisted a lot of beers, but boy, I am sorely out of shape to be sure.  I went out last night for a run, over to Lake Harriet to check out the nightly music at the bandshell.  I ...

This blog is a little different than my other blogs on TravBuddy -- this trip had a business purpose but we managed to have a lot of fun along the way.  My good friend Foo asked me to go with her to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to look into opening a Thai restaurant in San Miguel.  Foo owns the best Thai restaurant in Austin and is a world-class and world-renowned chef.  The twist on this trip was that she was going to be driving down to San Miguel with the sister of her forme...
