Southern Comfort

The only place I had ever been in the south was Florida. Florida is great, I love Florida. Its got Disney World and all sorts of things Mickey associated. About two years ago my sister and her husband and children all moved to Georgia. It is quite the distance from California and Arizona. I was resigned to not see my sister very often, or very soon for that matter. When she called and asked me to visit I jumped at the opportunity. She temted me further with fun by whisking me away to North Ca…

2 Years in Belize: Austin Travel Photos

From 2001-'03 I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer at Hol Chan Marine Reserve in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize. I acted as the biologist and environmental outreach coordinator for HCMR. It was a very fulfilling experience. Belize and San Pedro will always hold a little piece of my heart. Note: many of these pictures are scanned images of film photos and are therefore not of a very high quality. They are here for the content. Sorry!

Spring time paradise
posted by:

I just returned for a week on Hilton Head Island. The originally purpose for the trip was actually to attend my cousin's wedding, but I took a few days extra to make a vacation out of it. It is not my first visit to the Island, and probably not the last. I was first there probably over 25 years ago, and it has gown a lot since then.  Hilton Head is a golfers paradise. Everywhere you look are world-class courses. You are always just minutes from pristine beaches. I rented a bike from a pl…

A thousand years of Coral
posted by:

I had the pleasure of diving Shacks Beach in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. At first glance it appears like any other beach on the Island. Once I entered the water I was amazed. From the beach you can see the surf breaking over the coral. Once in the water you realize that the entire area is one huge coral reef. As I swam gliding over the coral ensuring I did not touch it so as not to harm the life of the reef. There was abudant life abound over the entire area. Tropical fish were s…

What a big city, everything is big there. I was only there for 24hours on a stop over but met a freind and crammed it all in, from the statue of liberty (from far) to going to the top of the empire state building, Massive pizza, wall street, ground zero and a midnight stroll on brooklin bringe and central park. Back to the airport! Faith went in with me to give me a hug and make  sure everything was ok. It's a good thing she waited! When I went to check in, the airline didn't have a reservation for me.... HUH? WHAT? CAN YOU SAY THAT AGAIN? (let me explain: yesterday, when I was rebooked I was booked with a different airline, b/c my original airline didn't have any available seats) So, I was sent back to my original airline. Guess who was working?!?! Yes, it was "Nice Screaming Lady". I was n…
