A couple of hour's drive north of Brisbane, Noosa is part of the Sunshine Coast area of Queensland. The region consists of several suburbs, including Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach and Tewantin.

The major tourist hotspot for those coming to the area is in and around Hastings Street in Noosa Heads. Lined with restaurants and playing host to an annual jazz festival, Hastings Street is also right on the beach. The Noosa National Park is about a five minute walk from there, providing stunning cliff and ocean views along hiking trails, access to more remote beaches, as well as the chance to glimpse a koala if you look hard enough.

Noosa and many of the surrounding regions have been given Aboriginal names or adaptions... Noosa means shadow or shadey place.

Hey, from Brisbane, we headed up the Sunshine Coast towards Fraser Island. On the way we passed Australia Zoo, we wanted to go there as there are plenty more shows here than what you get in your average Zoo's but it was too late in the Day so we thought to drive past and not waste any time.We carried on driving further towards a Campsite in Coolum. Coolum is a tiny beach resort with a small strip of shops and a great beach. We checked in and went down to check out the beach. The followi...

Here are some pics from my visit to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to see my parents. They're from Noosa, Mooloolaba, Coolum and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo in Beerwah... all fantastic coastal destinations I can recommend.

Noosa - hmmm

This morning we wondered if the double room we had was worth it - it had been really noisy with the air-con the night before, but checking the prices, we were only paying an extra $3 each ($60 for the double a night, vs. $27 per person per night for the dorm) so for a little bit of privacy we stuck it out, we weren't in the room much anyway! So far I must seem pretty lazy - this was a relatively stress free trip, but energy had to be conserved for the next few stages, which involved Fraser I...
