Nobu Kuala Lumpur Reviews
Nobu Dec 23, 2014
Ridiculously expensive is the best way to describe this place. I did not look at the bill of my visit, but I learned from someone else who went there earlier, that 2 persons, had SOME Sushi and Sashimi + SOME beer, ended up with a bill of MYR 800 (USD 250). No wine! Mind you, their sashimi is charged on 'per piece' basis! like MYR 20 for 1 slice of tuna... WHAT???
They claim to be one of the best Japanese Restaurants, but seeing the price, I feel I was swallowing a fish bone down my throat (swallowing a porcupine more like it). It's not really 100% Japanese, cos it has a little bit of Peruvian style. And which Japanese Restaurant don't serve Unagi?!
I don't like their staffs. Sorry to say but too many foreigners with weird English accent and even they themselves struggle with the names of their dishes. ie. "We'll be serving xxx with yyy sauce cooked with zzz style. Sorry, I mean yyy with zzz sauce cooked with xxx style". It was also hard for them to pronounce those names and I felt like saying shut up! Let me eat already!
Food was ok, but many times, the 'leaves' were more than the main ingredient. So the whole time we were asking.. "Is his lobster salad or tomato salad? Where's the lobster?"
Desserts were good though. I'd probably give them points for the dessert. View is also good - KL city view on the 57th floor.
I guess overall, to me, the only drawback is the staffs. Somehow I get really irritated by them although by fact, they didn't really do anything wrong.
