Noank is a very small, seaside New England Town located in rural eastern Connecticut, and only a few miles from the Rhode Island border. It is close to the Naval Submarine Base in Groton as well as Mystic, a popular tourist destination for it's colonial village and modern aquarium. It is also a short drive to the economic center of the eastern part of the state, New London. Noank is mostly residential, but has some fantastic seafood restaurants, one of which, Abbot's by the Sea, is one of the most enjoyable places to eat a lobster outside of Maine. Noank sits right on the Atlantic Ocean and provides spectacular views for those looking for the quintessential New England boating scene. This would be a fantastic stop-off for those roadtripping from Boston to New York (or vice versa). For those traveling by train, get off at New London and take a short cab ride to Noank.
