A Deli with a Difference Aug 08, 2013
This deli is a quirky little place in the village. By day it's the local deli but come evening time on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday it's a deli with a difference. How? I hear you ask, basically you just rock on down to the shop, peruse the numberous shelves of fine wines, pick a bottle, pull up a couple of chairs around a vacant table and await your wine to be served to you. They can chill white and rose wine in under four minutes straight from shelf to glass!!

The owner of the shop has very knowledgeable about the wines he has on sale and will provide recommendations should you be stuck for choice in what to pick. He is also very attentive coming around to top up your glasses and making sure that everything is ok (he keeps your wine in the chiller cabinet until refills are required.)

Because it's a deli you can also purchase nibbles should you feel a bit peckish - either choose bags of crisps, nuts or even a deli platter.

Because us girls had a lot of catching up to do after our first bottle of wine which was called 'The Flower and the Bee' went down a treat we decided to order a platter for two persons which the owner advised would be ample for the three of us to share. The platter came with a selection of four cheeses, four various cuts of hams, chutneys, olives, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes, a leafy salad and a bread basket. And to wash all that down we were recommended another wine by the owner, this time we were drinking 'Kung Fu Girl'

We thought it was reasonably priced, our platter of food was £11 per person and our two bottles of wine were £11 also, so for £44 between the three of us, it was relatively cheap.

We spent around two hours in here, but with it being a Thursday night it wasn't particularly busy, however, come Friday and Saturday evenings it is standing room only according to Kath - so if visiting, get there early.

If ever in Wendover, this place needs checking out.
