The city of Nijmegen tried to gain entry to the Hanze many times, but was not accepted until 1402 during a Hanze meeting in Lubeck, where a recommendation from Duke Willem I of Gelre and Gulik was put forward.

As I completed the 87th edition in 2003 a few other friends wanted to give it a try as well.This year Frank Feldmann, Erik v/d Bergh & Ron Groenewoud joined Marc and me.All of us made it to the finish line.2004 - 44,638 started the marches and 39,711 completed the full 4 days.

Vandaag is mijn laatste dag in Nijmegen voor ons vertrek naar Sumatra. Dat betekent nog even alle dingen nalopen die ik mee wil nemen, en vervolgens mijn backpack handig en niet te zwaar proberen te pakken..na een eerste poging blijkt het makkelijker dan ik dacht!Morgen zie ik Alain op het vliegvel…
