Níjar is a municipality located in the Spanish province of Almeria, Spain.
It is situated at a distance of 32 kilometers from the city of Almeria and is one of the largest municipalities in the community of Andalucía.

In the region of Nijar, is the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar, in whose territory the following locations are located: San José, Pozo de los Frailes, Los Escullos, Rodalquilar, Las Hortichuelas, Las Negras, Agua Amarga, Isleta del Moro, Fernán Pérez y Boca de los Frailes.

The park is one of the richest geological landscapes of Spain, recognized under the name of Geopark by Unesco in 1999.
