Nienmeyer Hot Springs

If you have time, might as well stop and check this Hot Springs out. You have to ford the river and walk around a huge pile of trees dammed in the river to find the springs. The springs source temperature is sizzling hot, don’t touch it! It runs off this tiny ledge into a huge swimming hole with river water mixed in. The pool is a little murky but a nice summer swim. There is also a rock pool on the end of the swimming hole collecting the source water, but the pool is just way too hot to sit in, maybe move a few rocks around to get a mix of hot and cool water.

Getting there:
From Atlanta take the Middle Fork Road (268) about 30 miles downstream (5.4 miles past Brown’s Creek). You’ll see the Nienmeyer camp at mile post 38. Park at the end of the camp ground and ford the river to the springs.
