9 days in Nice..... Aug 07, 2011
Hi thee, I recently stayed in Nice, France for 9 days.... I went solo but did meet up with people here and there ....

I found Nice an amazing place..... the beach spotlessly clean and safe.... the beaches in Nice are very narrow so you are never more than a few steps away from the sea when you wish to cool of and take a swim...

The beaches there are pebbles and not sand but this is fine... if you just take a towel to lie on.... there are showers and toilets along the beach and you can even pay for a place on one of the private beaches but, to be honest... from what I saw they where very cramped and all you got for your money was a sun lounger....

the promenade runs for miles and is kept clean at all times...

the food and drink is cheap enough if you look around... many parts in the old town are great and there is so much choice... quick example.... 2people.... 2 beers and 2 meals was 45 euros... so well within most budgets..... there are also plenty of supermarkets.... ta water is safe to drink so need need to buy bottles of water... which by the way where a lot cheaper than here in the uk.... approx 60 cents for 1 and a half litre bottle... that's about 40 pence for those that don't know...

Personally I found Nice exceptionally safe... there are of course a few beggars and always a risk of pick pockets etc but, you will find them in your local store just as easily !!!

there is a soft police presence in Nice.... I didnt see a single arrest... or a single drop f trouble at all for that matter....

Nice is not so much a late night place so not for those that wish to party really.... people make the most of the day times... the beach and the sun.... it is also very close to Monaco and many other places....

From Liverpool it is just under a 2 hour flight.... so very near....

Hotel prices varied dramatically... I stayed near to the train station which was approx £44 per night including a breakfast.... it seamed the nearer the promenade you stay the more expensive it became.... but in truth.... every where near the centre is no more than 15 minutes walk to the beach...

there is also a tram service and there is just the one.... so no chance of getting the wrong tram to and from destinations etc....

airport transfers i found expensive... at 35 euros... since it is only approx 4 miles... (6.4 km)... there are many buses though for about 4 euros...

street entertainment is very good.... and the scenery is so varied in and around Nice it is difficult to become bored...

It is ideal for a long weekend as much as it is a full 2-3 week holiday...

People are friendly and most speak English and many Russian speakers also....

Just been to Nice, its really great place with beautiful place, beautiful city and of course the proximity to Monaco makes it a must go location.

Stayed there for a period of 3 days and visited the nearby beaches in cannes, which is about 2 hours by bus. Cannes too is a city similar to Nice but alot smaller in scale. Lots of shopping in Nice as well, but the main draw for tourists i guess is its beaches and beautiful scenery nearby.

Took a hour bus to Monaco which is famous for its casinos and habour, so Nice is definitely a must visit place to visit in France
