Apparently everyone in Nha Trang--young and old--goes down to the beach at 5:30 in the morning to walk, jog or swim... a beautiful sight... Also expored a "slum on stilts"--very cramped...I felt like I was walking into people's bedrooms...

Island Boat Trip
posted by:

Today was sort of a lazy day as we had to wait all day to get on the bus to our next city in Vietnam which is Hoi An.  The busses are only overnight and so we had a second day in Nha trang.  Nha trang is basically a beach town so there is a beach and not much more to do.  We woke up pretty late, around 9:30am and packed up our things.  We checked out of our hotel but left our bags with them.  Then we got some breakfast, I had a french-inspired Vietnamese sandwhich, on...

A couple of friends and I went to NYC to visit my cousin. First time there, and we had a blast! We mostly did tourists stuff like Chinatown, Times Square, 5th Ave, Little Italy, Statue of Liberty, etc. It was a great experience, finally seeing what the NY lifestyle was like. I really want to go again!

Nha Trang - Vietnam Diving
posted by:

From Ho Chi Minh I took an overnight sitting bus up to the beach town of Nha Trang, about ten hours north. Thankfully, the bus was half empty so everyone was spread out across entire rows, with their asses hanging in the aisle. Not too comfortable, but better than sitting up for the whole trip. Cyrill decided to head up to Nha Trang just for the day and head back in the evening (nuts).   When I got to Nha Trang I ended up finding a hotel right on the beach with these two Engl...

Beaching it up in Nha Trang

The flight down to Nha Trang from Danang was really scenic.  We didn’t soar to any great height (we are over our luggage allowance already – I checked) and flew right down the coast into Nha Trang.  So pretty. When we were leaving Hoi An, we had some shoes made like I said.  I had some copies made of my favourite pink sandals.  Only I didn’t think that I would have to leave them with the shoe maker (yes, derrr).  Anyway, I was all in a quandary about what to do...

Arrived into Nha Trang after our 10 hour bus ride, which all in all wasn't too bad. Occasionally woke up with Regina's head butting my shoulder, but I figured it was a small price to pay for cheap bus tickets. Got into town around 6:30 and ended up staying at Blue Star. Ate at a street stall where the tables and chairs are ridiculously small and meant really for children. I could barely fit my ass on the chair. I can only imagine how hard it must be for a large white guy. Ate delicious banh c...

Certainly not as extensive as I would have had it but the best I could do and still have a job when I got home. Four weeks in South-East Asia was once again with Eastern Michigan University, Cambodia was independant with most of the EMU group, then Colin and I split off and joined JenM in the UK.

Bus to Nha Trang

Woke to torrential rain this morning so since we didn't have to check out till midday we decided to rest in bed reading until about 11am hoping for the rain to tail off. When it didn't we finally braved it and set out into town. Nha Trang is a coastal town which accounts for it's tourist influx and it's been a popular destination for holidaying Vietnamese for a long time also. Boats to the 4 nearby islands go daily, as do diving tours, and the beach is usually a good place to grab a cheap mas...
