Next Door Kitchen and Bar Brisbane Reviews
Best tapas in Brisbane Jul 02, 2014
I went to Next Door Kitchen & Bar with my mother and sister before a show at the Lyric Theatre. If you're attending a show at the Theatre of any of the other venues at the Cultural Centre Brisbane, it's just a short walk from the restaurant.
Next Door Kitchen is located on Little Stanley Street in the heart of the restaurant precinct of Southbank Parklands. Even though it was quite cold when we were there, we sat outside with the gas heater right next to us and were nice and warm. The ambiance is really cosy with lots of low light and candles on the tables.
The menu is not extensive and there are no main meals however there is a large range of share plates ranging from olives for only $3.50, wagyu meatballs for $16.50 and pulled lamb shank for $24.50.
Whilst the plates may seem small, don't over order as they can be much more filling than expected. If you want to fill up you can order some bread and the polenta bites are quite substantial. Between the three of us, we had some olives, croquettes, wagyu meatballs, polenta bites and calamari. All of it was beautiful and full of flavour. My favourite was the croquettes which were just amazing.
There are an assortment of cocktails, beers and wines. We had a bottle of sparkling wine. Try the Dunes & Greene Chardonnay Pinot.
Individual items are expensive for tapas and the drinks are also quite expensive but sharing in the end it only cost us $40 each including tip.
Overall an excellent tapas bar, definitely a great night out with the girls.
