Newtonmore is a village in the Highlands of Scotland with a population of about 1000. The village is only a few miles from a location that is claimed to be the exact geographical centre of Scotland.

Newtonmore railway station is managed by First ScotRail and is on the Highland Main Line

Shinty - The town is renowned for having a shinty team, Newtonmore Camanachd Club

Walking - Newtonmore calls itself the "Walking Centre of Scotland", referring both to its geographical location and to the great walking opportunities locally, like the Wildcat Trail. An extension to the Speyside Way could soon add Newtonmore to a Long Distance Route and it will become the new end to this trail.

Mountain Biking - Lots of trails in the local forests and tracks on the surrounding hills, as well as the purpose build Wolftrax MTB trails at nearby Laggan.

Today, Caroline had planned on taking me to the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, after hearing from a colleague at work that he thought was great. We piled into her car this morning 'round 9ish, and hit the highway up into the Highlands. We chatted a lot about this and that, and I swear I was the proverbial two year old with the eternal question -- 'Why?' Highland Wildlife Park, Folk Museum & Waltzing Waters

SATURDAY: DAY 16:  Up at 8am for breakfast which included fried egg, milk, toast & bacon ( which is like a Canadian bacon). Got petrol for 36 pounds then got on the B9152 to KINGUSSIE to the HIGHLAND WILDLIFE PARK that had animals such as Polecats, Red Deer, Mouflon, Przewalski's Horse, Soay Sheep, Highland Cattle, Pine Marten, Capercaillie, Red Grouse, Artic Fox, Snowy Owl, Red Fox, European Elk and Bison and many others.
