Newton Hawker Centre Reviews
Sep 03, 2006The recently renovated Newton Hawker Centre is a bright, lively, bustling place that provides the variety, quality and good value of other hawker centres without the grime. The food stalls are set in a big square around a plaza full of tables and chairs; each store is rated for its hygene so you'll know which places to avoid, if any. You can find anything from oyster omelettes and chilli crab to murtabak, chicken satay and laksa, soft drinks, beer and fresh coconut juice and probably western food and asian desserts (but I didn't look). The food is all good value, and with several stalls selling similar dishes, the competition keeps the prices low. The food will be brought to your table (just remember your table number) and you pay when it arrives. Simple, quick and hassle-free... and I must admit, the cleanliness of the place is a big plus. ... than eat, drink and shop?
Well, I admit I did those three things pretty well. Apart from hawker food and black pepper crab, my dad and I had a very nice Penang Buffet experience in Jurong. The restaurant was a little out of the way, but we were…… What more to Singapore... |
