Newburyport Vacation Guide

Newburyport, MA is a small city of about 18000 people located at the mouth of the Merrimack river - about 40 miles north of Boston.

Historically, Newburyport was primarily a shipbuilding community producing Clipper ships. However, today it is well known for a very well restored/preserved downtown district and for being the home to the first US Coast Guard station.

One of the most popular annual events in Newburyport is Yankee Home Coming beginning on the last Saturday of July and ending on the first Sunday in August. Numerous events take place in town during this week capped off by a parade and fireworks display.
