New Zealand Reviews
An absolute must-experience! Feb 20, 2009
New Zealand, in Maori language Aotearoa (the land of the long white cloud), is a stunning destination at the end of the world!
Many of us have to travel quite a long way to arrive at this country but the strain is totally worth it, no doubt!
After Polynesian tribes had come to the islands, the Dutch A.J.Tasman discovered the country as the first European ever in 1642 and named this place Staten Landt, which was redefined in Nieuw Zeeland after the Dutch province Seeland later.
In October 1769 the Briton James Cook set foot in New Zealand and occupied the islands, which have been under the British crown since then.
Today New Zealand is a popular destination for tourists and emigrants, who’re looking for the ultimate adventure of their life! And who could blame them?
New Zealand is a charming small country that offers the complete package of fun, relaxation and excitement.
Gorgeous nature including wild hiking trails, deep gorges, blue waterfalls and high mountains show an unbelievable variety of not purchasable beauty. Many national parks (e.g. Mount Cook National Park and Fjordland National Park on the South Island) allow complete enjoyment.
Interesting and not so often seen animals like the shy kiwi and the naughty kea are very appreciated motifs in many photo albums – but first you have to espy them.
Experience the famous Maori culture in form of a traditional show presented in atmospheric surroundings or thanks to many museums all over the country.
Looking for an extreme challenge? No problem, New Zealand offers heaps of thrilling activities. What about a bungee jump from the top of the Sky Tower in Auckland, a helicopter flight to the Franz Joseph Glacier or a speed boat trip?
If you’re a fan of big city life you’re definitely right in places like Auckland (‘City of Sails’), Wellington, which is built on seven hills or the ‘very British’ Christchurch.
There exist countless significant details, which make your time, surrounded by 40 million sheep, unforgettable: open-minded and caring hosts, who're interested in making your stay away from home so lovable, impressive landscapes, busy cities, idyllic beaches, cultural insights, breathtaking sports, lovely traditions and tasty treats.
I’m amazingly glad that I have already had the opportunity of spending a magnificent time in this fabulous country, where I’ve found a home from home – can’t wait to fly back! It’s a pity that New Zealand is more than a stone’s throw away from my home country, never mind, I’ll be back anyway.
I absolutely recommend travelling to Aotearoa – but take your time even though the country isn’t the largest a lot of people underestimate New Zealand’s charm and are sick at heart because they have to leave after just two weeks.
