my friends that live in ny wanted to make sure that i got to experience
the typical new york lifestyle.. aka, we walked EVERYWHERE! i am
soo used to living in los angeles where driving everywhere is
extremely convenient and there's a giant parking structure around
every corner.. but ny is soo crammed together, that u can pretty much
walk the whole island of manhattan in a day! (kinda :P ).. but
seriously, it was a major culture shock! but i looveedd walking up and
down...

We only had a few short days to enjoy our annual outing to NYC and we had to pack a lot in! My itinerary and notes are below.
Day One:
Flight to NYC - I was fortunate enough to upgrade to business class - and I'm soooo grateful. I hate being on the plane for so long, and it's even worse when you are cramped into a teeny tiny space. In business, you have a lot of leg room, a cushy leather seat, dvd's to watch, food to eat ... I could go on and on. Again, I was ex...

Having an entire day to myself in New York City is quite rare, so I decided to make it a special one by doing some things that I don't normally do...
I slept in until noon, which was a much needed luxury. After a lingering shower and getting dressed in a cute pink summer dress, I started my little journey. I bought an iced soy chai latte at Starbucks and then spent a couple of minutes enjoying the Battery Park view of the beautiful Lady Liberty, before hopping on the 4 train. On the rid...

The next day we slept in. (We are lazy on vacation) then we got up and made our way to Central Park. I made the niece go to The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. (she was going to get some culture on this trip) but she wasn't thrilled so I checked out my favorite Monet's and then we played in the park. We'd stop at each little playground and she would run around in it for a while. We went to Grey's Papaya for lunch got our two hot dogs and drink and sat and had some grub. That is about the b...

we left NYC in the morning...very sad. We then headed to Westport, CT to visit my cousins. I'm going back to NYC on May 27th, though, so I am happy :)

Woke up early today and walked down the block to grab a quick bite to eat. The weater was a bit warmer than I had expected at 47 degrees and sunny. This was still pretty cold to me since it was 70 degrees when I left L.A. I decided to walk over to Madison Square park and the Flatiron. NYC is just amazing - there is so much activity going on at any one time. It reminded of when I lived in London as both are pretty fast paced cities. Something about New York, however makes the pace seem even fa...

NYC reached into my chest and moved me through every street, around every corner, through every restaurant, during every show, to every site, and along every ride. I instantly fell in love and now long to return. The city holds an energy that is unparalleled in my travels. In my opinion, if you have a choice between NYC and LA when you visit the US, choose NYC. It is a nonstop deluge of wonderful treats waiting to be found and partaken of. It holds a grand reputation and it somehow lives...

Missing one's flight after a delay from another is one thing. Missing one's flight and not having your luggage arrive at the destination you just landed at is yet another, BUT missing one's flight and having to spend eight hours in transit with no luggage, nowhere to go and nothing to do? Well that is called TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. If you have ever experienced that, you know what I'm talking about. I had not had such an experience in all my years of travel, this one was tough, tougher than I thoug...

I'm not a traditionally religious person; New Year's Eve is my holy day. It's a grand finale and a fresh start, rolled into one big, fat party. At my job, I worked Christmas Eve instead of New Year's Eve, insisting that NYE was more spiritual for me. With my brother in town and tickets for the first Phish concert in 2+ years (since Shoreline '00), I celebrated the end of another successful year and joined in a new one with my best friends from across the country. And on the eighth anniversary...

I checked my watch nervously, as my travel
companion frantically tried to pick up a cell signal so we could call
and alert Vincent to our delayed arrival. After difficulty in
navigating Paris' complex transportation system, we just missed our
southern-bound train and didn't want our host to sit out in the cold at
Marseilles' uncovered station for hours waiting on us to find our way.
In retrospect, it now seems a bit odd (sketchy even perhaps) that we
had never before met Vincent, bu...

Ok so many of you know Im from Brooklyn, which is home of some of the most celebrated Hip-Hop Artists in the world...IE. Biggie, Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Fabolous, and the list goes on! Were pretty proud of our rap roots and stars, so we always support them. However, me and my friends were presented with an opportunity to go see Staten Islands (Shaolin) own Wu Tang Clan. All of us were super excited, because we love Hip-Hop that has a story to tell..not the stuff you hear bumping over the ...

A great trip to New York City the first week of August 2008. Our hotel was located at the base of Ground Zero. Four jam packed days of sightseeing and exploring the city.

When we first arrived the weather was pretty horrible, with rain and low cloud cover for most of the time we were there. Our first impression was "Wow", we both felt almost a little weird in New York. I suppose we felt kind of dwarfed by the size of the buildings and the roads, no wonder New Yorkers find everything tiny when they come to Europe. We tried to spend the maximum amount of time out seeing things. By the time we had dinner on the first evening I was feeling so jet-lagged I nearly f...

1. Empire State Building: The spectacular views from the top of the Empire State Building are truly spectacular but then at 1,454 feet up in the air it isn't suprising. The observation deck is open from 08.00am through until 02.00am so ther isn't really any excuse for not squeezing it in to the schedule. I always try to get there just before sunset. Yuo get to see Manhattan as dusk descends and as the sun sets more and more lights start to twinkle. It reall...
