New St. Mary's Catholic Church Fredericksburg Reviews
Great Example of Gothic Architecture Nov 24, 2010
An outstanding Gothic architectural style to be admired. This new building was constricted in the 1900s next to the original St. Mary's Church. The Church was completed in 1908. The facde of the church is that of Gothic cathedrals and the inside meticulously adorned with an old pipe organ and beautiful stained glass memorial windows for the sanctuary.
The sanctuary windows of St. George, the two Guardian Angels, Mary, and St. Francis were installed about the same time as it's completion. There is a painting of the twelve apostles on the arches above the center aisle and across the apse wall is Christ the King. On the sanctuary wall are two huge paintings: on the right, is Melchizedek offering bread and wine, while on the left you see Christ breaking bread with the two disciples at Emmaus.
Incredible interior, adorned indeed for the king.
