New Siam I Bangkok Reviews
Hot showers, clean rooms, bag storage, good food all for about 500 baht/night in a perfect location Jul 10, 2011
One thing hostel living has taught me if nothing else is understanding whats necessary in life. As far as Bangkok is concerned, a room with a big bed to collapse onto, no alarm clock, and no windows to keep that vile midday sun from bringing on that hangover too early is really about as much as you can ask.
If you have never stepped foot in Bangkok before and are new to the guesthouse experience you will soon rue the day where you have to spend over $50 a night for lodging -- anywhere.
The New Siam I is a Mangkoot throw from its big sister, the NSII and outside of the 10 baht/15 minute internet computers its most likely a better bang for your baht.
The location on a cramped alleyway leading to the Wat Chanasongkram adds to the homey vibe. It's also close enough to Kho san by foot and far enough away so if you want some down time in the quiet, its no problem.
Prices range from 200-600 baht. The low end are singles and doubles with no shower and for about 590 you can get your own WC. The shared showers are very clean especially for a busy guest house on the lower end such as this one.
