Up the mountain and in closed parks (during the winter) will provide you plenty of free space to snowboard and sled (especially with kids.) Great hiking too. The view is great. The gift shops are really reasonably priced too.

If you're in Santa Fe, whether it's to ski, snowboard or relax you must visit the Plaza, really, there's no way around it. The Plaza itself is a little touristy, but the silver jewelery sold by individuals is amazing. Don't bother going to buy it in the stores!
