Affordable Nepalese Set Meal with a good eye view of Bakhor/Jokhang Square Jan 05, 2009
If you are looking for a decent and clean food restaurant which offer a decent English food menu in Lhasa, New Mandala Restaurant is one worth considering on your list!
It offers a delectable range of food, from Western to Oriental cruisine. Vegetarian? Fret not. Of course it do offers local Tibetan delights, and the menu also blends with Nepalese delights too! What I really liked about Mandala Restaurant is the view you get to see while you savour on your food. Located just at the intersection of Jokhang Square, you gets to enjoy the bustling Bakhor street alley below and from far, the Jokhang Temple. If you are heading to Jokhang Temple, Barkhor streets for shopping, you can drop by this place even for a good foot-rest. While I was there during the winter season, the rooftop garden was off-access to me. So if you are there in other seasons, it may be worth dining in the open air too! I had a complete Nepalese daal/naan set and a decent small pot of Masala Tea to go with (which last me for few cups) ,at an affordable price of ~40rmb Of cos,you can venture to the nearby dingy stretch of buildings replete with food stalls. If you are worry about hygiene and having a piece of mind to eat, yes,New Mandala is worth the visit for that too. =) Part of the My Winter Silkroad Odyssey travel blog |
