I made it to New Haven for a look around Yale. The buildings are very pretty, but close together. I’ve tried taking pictures of the campus, but don’t seem to be able to do it justice. All you see are some trees and little of each building.
Yale wasn’t e…

Lee and Emily came in to Connecticut on the Metro North train from Grand Central Station in NY. My girlfriend Dawn and I met them at the New Haven train station, a little after noon. We loaded their bags in the back of the truck, and headed out. They had trave…

Arriving at 7:45pm, my flight had landed 25 minutes ahead of schedule. I retrieved my gate-checked bag from the cart on the tarmac, entered Tweed terminal, and asked to use the phone. I call CT Transit to have the next G bus stop at the airport as the driver on Tuesday had suggested I s…

I took a short trip to Bristol for Thanksgiving (21-22 November 2007). It's not exactly a "travel" blog, but since it involves public transportation, I figured I'd post it here.

In preparation for my 10.5-month English teaching job in China, I needed to go to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China to get my visa and the nearest one to Connecticut is in Manhattan on the corner of 42nd Street and 12th Avenue. After posting my destination on TB, I received a “location match” in my updates and started surfing around to see who else would be in the city the day I planed to go. Low and behold, a meet up was scheduled for that afternoon… Woo Hoo!

The next stop on my travels has been New Haven, the home of Yale University. I'm not sure why I was so keen on visiting, but two of my must-see destinations were Harvard & Yale - mission accomplished. I stayed at Hotel Duncan, which was cheap but really quite nice. And I took a campus tour this…

Five Mile Point, named for its distance from downtown New Haven, became the sight for a lighthouse in 1805, marking the entrance to New Haven Harbor. Mariners knew to give the light a berth of at least two miles to avoid a dangerous ledge to its southwest.
Completed in 1847, the new tower, painte…

I, hauled my luggage out the door, and was on the B1 bus by 7:03am and connected to the G2 in New Haven. The ground was still damp from the overnight rainfall, but slowly evaporated in the warm early sun. It was a quiet morning and the bus had few passengers, but the same boisterous wom…
