My first time in another country after a 14 hour flight and we check into the New Empire Hotel in Chinatown. Not at all what I thought it was going to be. The website photos looked like a clean place. I mean no 4 star by any means but it looked clean and a cheap place to crash. It was $12 per night and by Bangkok standards that should get you something decent. This place was anything but! We went upstairs to our room to find stained cloth headboards, a combo toilet/shower, gnats buzzing around the drain in the bathroom, a hair in the sink, and community shower slippers. The only reason we stayed the night there was because it was 2am and we were beyond exhausted. First thing the next morning we woke up and checked into the Rose Hotel which was much more us!
