Mostly this trip was to warm up before winter in New Zealand. Spend a lot of time on the beaches of Baie Des Citrons and Anse Vata. Did have good times in the early morning markets though. Plus the town square has Thursday evening shows and markets. Met lots of great locals …

Our trip to Noumea was not one of our favourite trips, mainly because we just didn't know French and really to enjoy Noumea you do need some French, even though everyone on the Island can speak English, they just will not unless something happens to make them.
We were having plenty of proble…

Bonjour!
Après quatre nuits à la mer, nous avons arriver à Noumea. That’s probably completely wrong –
but I did manage to get bus tickets in French. If you haven’t already guessed, New Caledonia is a
French-speaking country.
All
the signs and shop names were in French in N…

I have just returned from a 5 day visit to New Caledonia. I wish it had been a holiday, but it was all work visiting schools, meeting local government reps, and education agents. It was certainly different from my expectations... shabby French chic. A great blend of Island paradis…

Cruised from Sydney to New Caledonia and the New Hebrides aboard Rhapsody of the Seas.Great 10 days visiting islands that have not become too touristy yet.Very good places for snorkelling especially Isle of Pines and Vila (Hideaway Island). Ship excursions very expensive, but easy to arrange your own trips. Locals very friendly. Recommend visit to local village at Luganville (by taxi), war museum and cultural centre at Noumea. Isle of Pines still very unspoiled. Ship excellent.
