Neue Garten Park Potsdam Reviews
A wondeful walk near the water Apr 06, 2011
It was a beautiful day and I had the belief that I in just a short walk in Neue Garten Park could reach the Schloss Cecilienhof palace, which was one the last of Potsdam's palaces to be built. I was wrong in my assessment but I had a great walk in Neue Garten Park.
The Emperor Wilhelm II had it built for his son, Crown Prince Wilhelm, from 1913 to 1917 and in the 1920's, Crown Prince Wilhelm returned from exile in the Netherlands and stayed there with his family up to 1945.
In 1945, Stalin, Truman and Churchill replaced by Attlee negotiated and signed the Potsdam Agreement in Schloss Cecilienhof. It is possible to visit the conference rooms, and the 1945's interior has been preserved.
