After months of anticipation the day had finally come when I would go to my first TravBuddy Meet-Up. Organised by Wendy and Rowena a whole weekend of activities had been planned to coincide with the Sneekweek in Friesland, a province in the north of The Netherlands where they both live. Unfortunately I could only be there for a day, but I wasn't going to let a day's sailing on the IJsselmeer pass me by!
I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a car, otherwise I wouldn't even have been able t...

It was a hot Saturdaymorning. JC arrived the Airport Schiphol in Amsterdam about 8.50am. Sylvie and I were supposed to be there around 9am to fetch JC, but we were late!
About 7.30am in the morning Sylvie's sms woke me up, i looked at the time and i was shocked like: Shit, i'm fucking late! Within 30 minutes i had to get ready, drinking 1 cup of coffee, 2 hotdogs and i really had to take the train of 8.15am. Finally i got there at the airport around 9.30am, but i couldn't find JC at all. Luc...

On Monday morning I was up in good time, as I needed to pack, and I also wanted to stoke up at the Hotel's breakfast buffet, as it was going to be a long day, with my flight not leaving Schipohl until ten in the evening. After checking out I carried my bags up to the train station, where there were some left-luggage lockers, and then set about doing some food shopping. Not much, since it would have to fit into my cabin baggage, but a friend had told me that I would love stroopwafels, and so o...

I have captured some photos during the meetup and do some editing on some of the photos. I hope u guys enjoy viewing the photos. I'm really glad I'm able to make it for this meetup, is really wonderful! Is really amazing how TravBuddy bring people from different parts of the world come together and enjoy those magical moments in our life. And is also amazing how some of them get to chat with each other so much where never get to meet in person.Life is such that things just happen in ways that ...

Just recently I bought a digital camera. I'm not an early adoptee you see. My first camera was a very simple one, then I moved on to aps and now, finally to digital. I have to confess; I should have done this years ago! Although I'm just a hobby photographer I only now realise the true potential of digital. I can take hundreds of pictures and pick out the best three. Where as in 'the old days' I at least had to develop the roles of film. A costly business. Anyway, I had to try out my ne...

After waking up at 06.30 and not being able to get back to sleep (too hot?) I ended up getting dressed and going downstairs for some fresh air. My roommates Sonja, Anouk and Mariska were still fast asleep. I spent some time reading downstairs and eventually went back up to have a shower and change. Then went back downstairs ofr breakfast were Steve joined me after a little while.
After breakfast we decided to go for a walk and of course we did not forget the camera's! We walked for abou...

We planned to have breakfast together at 10 am. Daniël and me were almost on time downstairs and had our breakfast. The other 3 were a little bit late and didn’t have breakfast. After checking out and putting my stuff in my car, we went to the centre again to meet Brett and Ket for breakfast or was it lunch?? Lets go for brunch. We went to café Stoffel and first we had a drink insite. We took the brunch outsite where it was not to cold, except for Devika J, she was putting on her bodywarm...

I am special. Why? Because I am an alien. Let me help u to understand... I've got that special german passeporte for foreigners. I was born here, lived in Germany all my life but I am a foreigner. :D Which means that I do not have a german citizenship. It's a bad thing I tell ya, to love to travel and having that kind of a passeporte. Everyone who knows the trouble of being an alien applying for visas knows what I'm talking about. For example... It's impossible for me to enter China, because ...

I was a bit dissappointed when I saw the weather when I got up, but luckily it got better during the day. A bit nervous for my first meetup I got ready to catch my bus and train. Both left in time and I arrived in Tilburg just before half past 9 (the time I was meeting some of the others). I didn't see anyone yet so I had time to get some money from the ATM. When turned around to start looking for other people I saw two persons walking in my direction that looked familiar :) Soon some more TB...

I decided to get up extra early and walk around the city a little more… The is something to getting up real early and seeing the locals go about their day, while knowing the whole time that you don’t have anywhere that you have to be and anything that you need to do hahaha. Amsterdam is amazing in the morning with the sunset hitting the many bridges and canals it is really something that one should see for himself/herself because words don’t do it justice…
After trying ...

we'd been planning this trip for a while - ever since I spotted a small sign on the Oudegraacht advertising the restaurant. Ilka, Eva and I finally managed to find a date we could all make it, and journeyed forth to the Ostrich to see what crocodile tasted like.
After a few emails sorting out the last minute question of whether or not we ought to reserve (we did in the end, and I don't think it's a bad idea), a time was set too. We met at the restaurant, which was full of bright ...

So here I am, 16 months after my last visit to Australia, ready to go back and enjoy life. I've worked hard for this trip, but I'm sure it was worth it. I've worked at the Comedy Cafe in Amsterdam fulltime for the last five months, met great people and generally had a good time. I made some good friends over there, and saying goodbye proved to be harder than I first thought it would be, especially to the people I went out with a couple of times in the last week. Love you! Other than that, say...

MARVELOUS MAYHEM IN MAASTRICHT
Saturday evening, at the Amsterdam TravBuddy Meetup, I was fortunate to sit at the same table with Sanne (sannekoek) and Raphke (Raphje) at Humphrey's. During our dinner, I asked the gals if they would be willing to show a crazy American around their hometown of Maastricht if I took a train there the next day.
They graciously volunteered to give me a Sunday tour of Maastricht. Little did I know how mar...
