Neon Asian Street Food Dublin Reviews
Simple Asian take-away with chairs Apr 23, 2014
N53°20.273' W6°15.803' Neon paints a scene of Hoi An fish market in Vietnam on the restaurant wall and on the menu, referring to the quality of delicious Vietnamese food. Neon pretends a lot, but does it deliver?
Neon looks as a professional designed investment. Interior design, restaurant front and printing are all very professional and consistent. It's not a one-man initiative. The menu looks promising with Vietnamese, Thai and Indian dishes, which are available as take-away too. Looking inside the kitchen, no Asian staff members were present. We entered the restaurant on Good Friday in 2014 at five o'clock. At six o'clock Neon was packed. It is very popular with families, because the soft ice desert is free.
We ordered vegetable spring rolls with sweet chilli dipping sauce, massaman curry and yellow curry with rice and immediately it became clear that Neon promises too much. The delicacy of Asian street food was not reflected in the food at all. The spring rolls were good, but the curries lacked any taste. Not with the expected fine and fresh flavours we met during our travels in Asia.
Neon is a simple Asian take-away, disguised with style as a restaurant, but failing to deliver Asian culinary substance. Not recommended.
