NEMO is a science centre, aiming at an audience of children. It is also host to a city beach in summer, and there is a great view from the roof.

NEMO includes displays about energy, electricity, water power, and sex (clearly described as teen talk, so there's no need for any five year olds to see the wooden dolls in the peep show part if you don't think they're ready for it!). The displays, apart from the dolls and the things in jars, are all very interactive - there are wooden solar dragonflies for you to make move, water dams to build and measure the energy you're making, loads of string puzzles, buttons to press, some things for making giant bubbles, a dance machine and loads more.

If I was seven, this place would totally blow my mind. As it was, I had a great time pressing all the buttons and getting overexcited about the models. When I went it was at night for museumnaacht, and the crowds weren't too bad, but I can imagine that the crowds could be intimidating for little ones if you went in the holidays. Facilities include a cafe, a cloakroom, a bar upstairs (I don't know if that's always open or only for special occasions though), and some really nice staff.

I really would recommend NEMO, either for chilling on the roof when they have a beach or on museumnaacht, or for taking a child or child at heart to so they can play with science. Great fun.

If you're interested in science you should visit Nemo. Nemo is the biggest science centre in the Netherlands. It's located very close to the central station in Amsterdam so very easy to reach by public transport. From the station you can reach it on foot.

At Nemo you can learn everything about science and see hoe different tests are being done. You can also try to do some small tests of your own at Nemo's Wonder Lab. For example try if you can extract dna from fruit and things like that.. Next to some expositions that are always being shown at Nemo there are also some expositions that keep changing. It's a museum where everybody can learn more about nature, science and technology in a more playfull way.

The entrance fee is 11,50 in euro's
