Neeltje Jans, Delta works Vrouwenpolder Reviews
Amusement park for children Feb 28, 2011
We went to the Delta works to see the massive engineering feat that had been pulled off to keep the water out of Zeeland.
Obviously, we decided to visit the biggest site - Neeltje Jans. It is an artificial island in the middle of the Oosterscheldekering.
Unexpectedly, we found an amusement park there 'Delta park Neeltje Jans'. Roughly, the park consists of three parts: The actual dam, a children's playground and an exposition about the great flood in 1953 and the delta works.
While we found the Dam and exposition very interesting, the childrens playground part was mostly closed. So we felt that the admission fee was a bit on the pricy side (in the low season). Note that if you have children, they will definitely love it and the admission will be cheaper for them (we were 4 adults, only coming for the dam).

More than half of the Netherlands lies below sea level. The Delta Works were built to keep everyone safe and to prevent a recurrence of the 1953 flood disaster.
Neeltje Jans is an artificial island in the Netherlands in the province of Zeeland, halfway between Noord-Beveland and Schouwen-Duiveland in the Oosterschelde. It was constructed to facilitate the construction of the Oosterscheldedam. The island was named after a nearby sand bar.
Come and visit the most fantastic water theme park in the Netherlands, Deltapark Neeltje Jans, where you can spend a fun day filled with amazing attractions. You can visit the Delta Works, walk through the inside of the storm surge barrier and enjoy a taste of some real Zeeland specialities or pancakes, if you prefer. Fancy a day out? Bring your friends and family for a day to remember!
