Navy Lodge 32nd Street San Diego Reviews
great place for US military families who are visiting San Diego Nov 22, 2014
We drove down to San Diego (SD) to attend a friend’s birthday party. SD is about 300 miles driving distance from my town. We could drive back home on the same day; however, we preferred spending the night at the Navy Lodge Inn.
To stay at this military-run hotel, you have to be an active duty, retired, DOD, or a dependent. A civilian may use the service as long as a sponsor is present. Navy Lodge Inn has a standard that is comparable to the commercial hotel, but a lower fraction of 40% than “civilian” lodging facility. I’d say; a perk for people who work for the government. Also, being in a military installation there is no added tax to your hotel bill.
The lodge is in a strategic location; just a stone throw away to the Navy shopping complex, the Commissary (grocery,) and a gas station. There are fast food restaurants inside the shopping arcade.
The downtown San Diego is just a 10-minute drive away to/from the lodge.
The check-in process took a while due to the numbers of guests checking in at the same time. The reception staff was friendly. They also helped us with directions to different attractions in downtown San Diego.
There are plenty of free brochures of places to visit, city maps, and bus/trolley maps available at the lobby.
The room we stayed at had a functional kitchenette to cook in. Thus, a microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, stove, sink, cooking utensils, silver and dining wares, and even a dish soap are all ready for use.
The bed was comfy with lots of pillows and clean bed linens.
The bathroom was clean. There was an intense pressure and an easy to operate faucet for hot water. Clean towels and toiletries are up for grabs.
A flat iron/ironing board, hangers are neatly stacked inside an extended wardrobe closet.
Our room have ample electrical outlets for charging laptops or other electronic gadgets.
Parking is free. Most good hotels in San Diego area will charge a parking fee. The outside ground is safe.
The coin-operated washer and dryer units are on the ground floor.
There is no swimming pool facility, but hey, it is San Diego! There are nearby beaches.
For sure, we will stay here again.
