The streets in France do not have many free-standing signs like in the US. Know that you have to look to nearby buildings to find the street names which usually start with Rue or Avenue.

See the pictures, but you will find the street names on small placards on the walls of a building near an intersection. They are not bright or flashy, just there, and you have to look hard sometimes. This is most difficult on the small streets because the larger streets will sometimes have larger freestanding traffic signs indicating the street name which you can use. Just keep your eyes open because the street signs are not as obvious as those in the United States.
