Nauyaca Waterfalls Manuel Antonio Reviews
Great horseback riding and visit to amazing Waterfalls May 03, 2011
The tour here is amazing and is well worth the trip out to the forest.
From Manuel Antonio/Quepos it took about 40 minutes to get to the small house which serves as the tour office. Here you can buy some water and tourist items. They then transport you to the horse stables and get you saddled up for your adventure. Horses are assigned based on your skill and comfort level.
Once on the horse knows where to go and the path is well marked. You're mostly on a dirt road which is nice because you don't have tree limbs scraping against you and there's room to walk along with your friends and talk as you ride. The road goes over some small bridges and even through a stream and river.
The ride is pretty long. Not so long you get board or tired of the experience, but long enough that you gain comfort with your horse. About halfway they have you stop and feed you a small breakfast of fruit, cookies, juice, water and coffee or tea. There's bathrooms here to use if you need to.
Your ride again, this time to the waterfalls. On arrival there's changing rooms so you can put on your suit and go swimming in the basin of the waterfall. The guides swim with you and then hook up a rope to help you climb to some spots on the waterfall where you can dive off. The climb is a little scary, but manageable, and once you're at the top you can't wait to jump down. It's amazing.
After swimming and diving for a while you change and mount the horses, returning to the diner for a lunch. We had chicken, rice, beans, and some bread. The tour finishes with the remainder of the horse ride back.
This tour was very affordable and fun. We were able to get comfortable with the horses without getting annoyed at the length. It was done just right.
I can't recommend this tour highly enough.
