Impressive, a fantastic experience! Jan 08, 2015
The place is just taken our from a fairy tail. You sleep in small cottages right in the garden with the best views over Benaue's World Heritage Rice Terrace, Actually you find a couple of viewpoints in the hotel.

I believe Graham is the owner although we had no chance to meet him as they told me he travels a lot between Manila and Banaue. If you visit the hotel's website you read that they do nor recommend to drive there with low profile vehicles as the road is not in good conditions right now. However, by the time you visit Banaue the construction might be finished. I almost turned around when I saw the road taking you to the hotel :) They recommend you to come by OHAYAMI TRANS which is a bus company located in Manila (Lacson Avenue corner Fajardo Street.Sampaloc).

When we arrived to the hotel my son freaked out as they have a big monkey in a cage just when you get in. They come to welcome you to the hotel, and you can order food anytime you want. Just bare in mind that it might take 90 minutes to serve it. Food was just incredible. You must try chicken curry... well, everything was good, so you can try everything they have in the menu :) But they ask you to tell them with a couple of hours in advance.

Toilets and showers are share outside the cottages, but they are extremely clean. Inside the cottage you just find a matrress and a couple of bulbs so you can get some light at night. It is so authentic! Love this hotel indeed.

No longer a good option Mar 15, 2011
Four years ago I wrote the first review here for the Native Village Inn after an initial visit which left me very enthusiastic about the place. I've been back there a few times since then and will no longer recommend it. First, it's not in Banaue town itself but on a very dangerous road 9 km from Banaue. It's an unsurfaced road that is muddy and very narrow, with a risk of going over the edge of the mountain, especially after the frequent landslides. This hotel has deteriorated in quality so much that it is no longer an option. Staff are surly and inattentive and transport out there is difficult to obtain and you run the risk of being stranded if no trike passes. You will do so much better staying in one of the hotels in downtown Banaue, where you have access to transport, terraces, and food. At the Native Village Inn there is no option but to eat in their restaurant because it's the only one for miles around.

This hotel is unusual because the "rooms" are really native Ifugao houses. It's quite an experience to stay in them. The hotel is not in Banaue town but 9 km away on the road to Hapao and Hungduan. Both Banaue and the Hungduan rice terraces are World Heritage sites and this hotel is conveniently located about half way between them. Their website has lots of info and maps of the area.
