National Museum of Western Art Ueno Reviews
Great Art Museum Aug 14, 2014
The national museum of western art is one of a circle of museums in Ueno that also includes the science museum, the national museum of japan & the metropolitan museum. For me the western art museum was the best. It mainly houses paintings & sculptures.
All of the museums are opposite JR Ueno station (Park Gate Exit) so they are easy to find. The museum itself isn't too big so its easy to navigate your way around.
Inside the pieces are spaced far apart, the lighting is good and the rooms are air conditioned (which I was grateful for that day!).
The staff who stand in each room were just like every other staff member Ive seen in museum's in the UK--they looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. I guess staring at the same art work day in and day out would get tedious after a while. I spent around an hour at the museum, so its a great place to see some really good art and to kill some time (unless you work there I guess).
