National Museum Indonesia Reviews
Good place to know Indonesia's culture in general Sep 27, 2009
National Museum Indonesia has an extensive collection covering - prehistoric, archaelogy, numismatic, cultural, etnology and geography with total numbers of collections around 142k items.
Located in old building in front of Monas park. It has an elephant statue in front of the building - was a present from Thailand King, hence this museum is also known as Elephant Museum. In the corridor and open yard they put collection of statues and parts of old hindu temple. Whereas in the room they have put the complete collection of all Indonesia's tribe. The second floor led us to another collection for valuable ancient jewelry from gold and silver. Entrance fee is 750 Rp (0.07 USD) (which is nothing) - even for us - Indonesians. This place linked to the newer building beside which is used as a temporary exhibition hall and cafetaria. This is a good place for an introduction about Indonesia's culture and history Part of the Jakarta 2009 till.....(Indonesia) travel blog |
