This museum was opened very shortly after Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. Although it was located elsewhere, its current location since the 1960s near his cremation place seems more fitting. The museum is composed of two floors and a small gift shop at ground floor. I really liked the small attention to detail about this place; there was a phone which you could pick up and listen to his actual voice, exhibits of flowers that were used at his funeral and general everyday items which he used. It’s a rather poignant and intimate look into the man’s life and the information is very comprehensive. Considering his significance, you’d think this museum would be over the top, but it strikes a right balance. If you have any interest in the man, and are in New Delhi, this museum is a must.
