Giddy up! Dec 30, 2008
The atmosphere of Las Vegas during the NFR is well, a bit chaotic. If you live here you know that during this time there are simply places you just don't go to unless you want to get stuck between 2 cowboy hats. The Thomas & Mack, where the NFR is held, is a giant cluster of cars and people. There are plenty of people in town to help our economy. The Nation Finals Rodeo is not just going to a small little rodeo and then everyone leaves. No way, it's more like a 2 week party! I have always been fortunate to get amazing seats that were free and mingling with the cowboys before. It all enlives the experience. I cannot give an accurate price for tickets but they can be pretty pricey. I suggest contacting a TB buddy who lives in Vegas before going to see if they have extra tickets.

The whole NFR is a fun time, opening performances are always entertaining. The cowboy clowns who so bravely risk their lives during the bull riding are so funny when not saving lives. You have to admire the cowboys who even attempt to ride those massive bulls. Those 8 seconds could very well be the longest 8 seconds of their lives. Bare back riding is a skill in itself and those girls who have trained their whole lives to do barrel racing really show what it is like to "make mama proud". There is also steer wrestling, which is not really my favorite event, always makes you wonder who would want to dive bomb a steer and wrestle it. It looks sort of painful too, for both parties involved. I would have to say my favorite is the bull riding though and the excitement of the crowd really gets everyone into it. If you solely want to check out the bull riding you can go to the PBR (Professional Bull Riding) Finals that are held a few weeks prior to the big deal of the NFR. My pictures below are the the PBR this year, I passed up the NFR since I found out last minute I had tickets..see, contact you TB buddies to get tickets for an all out rodeo festival.

Does anyone know where to get good plaza (lower) level seats from besides 1-888-NFR-RODEO? Called them and they have tickets but they are $250ea and up for the lower level. Any help is appreciated.

The NFR felt a little more flat this year than previous years. The typical after rodeo hangouts weren't as crowded as usual...stupid economy!
