Centraly located hostel with nice staff Apr 22, 2011
Nathans Villa Hostel Krakow is part of a chain of three hostels in Poland and one in Romania.

I visited two of them, Krakow and Warsaw. In Warsaw the rooms were a bit bigger than the ones in Krakow. Another plus was the huge bathroom and kitchen in Warsaw. But there was no bar and not that much atmosphere in the hostel itself. I only stayed two nights though... so I gonna base this review on the Krakow hostel where I stayed 4 nights and had a very good time.

First of all you have to know that it is a hostel, so don't expect a lot of luxury. The bedrooms are very basic and there is a small communal kitchen. The bathrooms are quite comfortable though, they have one of the better showers of Krakow. Also there's a terrace where they sometimes organize a bbq. Further you can book trips to for example Auschwitz with them for a good price.

But the best thing of the whole hostel was the underground bar. Every night there was a great atmosphere and the barmaid was very friendly and funny.

If you prefer to visit the city instead, the hostel is also centraly located. Maybe not in the real city center of Krakow, but just at the border between the center and the Kazimierz quarter, only a 5 min. walk from both of them. And I especially can recommend to visit Kazimierz. It's more authentic than the real city center and more youthful.

A good, fun, friendly hostel! May 05, 2011
First the bad news… their breakfast sucked. Very poor coffee and the breakfast itself was bread, a minimal selection of jam, and Kelloggs cornflakes. Weak!

+The good news is there’s a bar downstairs and nearly everyone staying here, including the staff, were down partying. I traveled to Krakow with a girl I met in Warsaw the night before, so we were off doing our own thing otherwise I would have been partying with all the others for sure!

The hostel is just outside the main areas of downtown but only a 10 minute walk or less. The Jewish district and the Krakow Castle are both very close too.

Also, there’s a bakery just around the corner that will knock your socks off! Out the front door take left to the main road, then turn right and walk less than 10 steps (from what I remember) and its right there.

It’s the best bakery I’ve ever been too and Nathan’s villa is the closest to it, which is all the more reason to stay here!

A great social hostel Sep 07, 2008
Nathan's Villa is in a great location for exploring the city. Easy walks to the major attractions, like the castle complex and the old jewish quarter. The rooms were tidy and spacious and the showers functional, with decent pressure and hot water, which can be hard to come by in eastern Europe.

The basement is set up for socializing. One room is the bar, with great prices for beer. If you are adventurous, try a vodka sampler tray, some of which will peel the paint off the walls. There is also a smoking room, a billiards room, and a movie room with comfortable couches and a variety of DVDs. We met a bunch of fun and friendly folks here and had a great time. A couple of the people in our room had been there for a few months, and felt it was a home away from home with built-in nightlife.

I would definitely stay there again if in Krakow.

Nathans Villa Hostel is by far and away the best hostel I have ever stayed in. With it being only 5 min walk from the castle, or 10 to the main square, the location is excellent. But thats not what makes Nathans great! The atmosphere was something that Nathan had in mind when designing the place. There is a brilliant private garden in the back to relax with your cold pint that you purchased downstairs. We played hours of free ping pong (table tenis), ate great BBQ, and met some amazing travellers all in this wonderful garden. The only bad thing about the garden is that it closes at 10pm, but that doesn't matter, as you can mosy downstairs to the bar area where there is a designated smoking room, pool room, theater, and generally chill area.

I really can't give enough praise about Nathans! If you are going to Krakow, Stay here, I promise you won't regret it.
