Nasi Jamblang Bang Dul
Nasi Jamblang Bang Dul Cirebon Reviews
Very delicious, unbelievably cheap, very crowded. Mar 23, 2012
I tried that famous Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul/Bang Dul. It is located next to BCA ATM (Automated Teller Machine from BCA Bank). Exactly in front of Grage Mall, the only mall Cirebon has.
It is very crowded. During 02.00-05.00 pm they close the restaurant. They open it again at 05.00 pm until it runs out the meals stock.
It offers simple rice with simple side dishes i.e soybean sauted tofu, fried mashed potatoes, fried Tempe, fried eggs, soybean sauted boiled eggs, flour covered fried Tempe and so on. No vegetables. Contrary to Nasi Lengko which contains 100 % vegetables besides rice.
What makes it unique is that all those meals are put on some teakwood leaves. Yes, teakwood, not banana leaves.
You can self service by taking whatever side dishes you want to eat and put it to your Nasi Jamblang.
Remember of what you have chosen because after eating, you have to go to the cashier and tell him/her what you have eaten. And usually, you forgot what you ate because you chose plenty of side dishes, hahaha..
The price is unbelievably cheap! One side dish costs only RP. 1,000 (USD 0.1). Almost nothing, isn't it?
The portion of the rice is pretty small. If you are a man, normally you need 4 or 5 portions of the rice.
The drink: usually people drink, unsweeted hot tea although you can order the sweet ones or coold canned drinks.
Sit down together with everybody else on a long wood seats, tables are already full with glasses, clean tissues etc. So, you can not put your plate on the table like normal restaurant situation. You have to hold the plate on one hand and eat with spoon on your other hand.
I think this kind of food was purposed for poor class of community in the past. Regarding to the layout of the restaurant, the side dishes options, and how cheap the prices are. However, in recent days, it becomes popular as one of best culinary experience that Cirebon offer to its tourists!
