Nasi Bancakan Bandung Reviews
Traditional Food Traditional Ambiance Aug 08, 2009
My friend, who is origin from Bandung, took me there during our business trip in that city.
She said "Bancakan" is a kind of traditional game in Bandung. But, in my own language, Javaness, "bancakan" means a gathering to celebrate something or showing gratitude.
My friend kept saying that "this food was often served when I was a child and that food too and so on and so on". Dining there for her was a flashback of her childhood culinary memory because she is a Sundanese. I am a Javanese, so many food are new to me.
The food is great. They are all homemade taste. The plates and the cups remind me of my childhood. They are all made of zinc.
The ambiance is unique. Why? Because I feel that the owner wants to show the restaurant just the way it is. They have posters that usually put in simple family houses, such as the posters of Bolliwood actor and actress and Indonesian singers. The posters put on the wall with tape untidily. Even, they let the stain on the wall because of leakage ;D
The restaurant has two kinds of seating, i.e. benches and "lesehan" where the guests can sit with cross-legged on mat.
What makes the restaurant more unique is they put a slogan in Sundanese that means, "Hey guys, if you eat 5 don't say only 1. Be embarrased to the owner. God knows." Hahahaha, so Indonesian..... ;D
