Atmospheric café in Tainan Sep 10, 2011
N22°59'22.77" E120°12'17.00" Enter through the tiny and tight passageway (38 cm wide) at 67 Nanmen Road and you might have an idea where the café’s choice of name comes from. Actually it comes from an André Gide novel. After two flights of stairs to the second floor, you have a choice to sit down in an open window room overlooking the Confucius-temple and experiencing Tainan city or the more isolated airco-room. Both white stucco tearooms are part of a lovely old Japanese-era house, with wooden floors and tables. Staff speaks English. Because this is a tearoom, we ordered refreshing tea, took out our tour guides and enjoyed ourselves in planning our trip in Taiwan for the next days. A Lonely Planet and Rough Guide favourite. Recommended.
