Due to jet lag, I woke up pretty early and headed down to the train station sometime after 7am. After figuring out where my train to Nara is, I bought the ticket and it was only a few minutes before the train showed up. There were lots of trains to Nara, every few minutes it seemed. The ride was ab…

In no rush to get wet, we killed time in the room until hunger and dearth of groceries sent us out in a search for sustenance. I did a quick search online and found two vegetarian-friendly options here in Osaka... off we …

While we were in Kyoto and Nara, the biggest challenge was to keep our five-year-old son entertained. Most attractions in these old capital cities are shrines and temples, and that's what we (my husband and I, the grown-ups) wanted to see. But, obviously, these historical sites are not so exciting …

Nara was rife with headaches.  Mini headaches for the most part, but headaches (plural) add up fast.  Finding the guesthouse turned out to be another feat: the directions said to cross the street and walk straight, and that it was just before the end of the street.  By “end of the …

Japan's first imperial capital in Japan was established in the year 710 at Heijo, the city now known as Nara. As the influence and political ambitions of the city's powerful Budhists monasteries grew to become a serious threat to the government, the capital was moved to Nagaoka in 784. Nara today…

4th times visiting Japan.. Got so relaxing and culture experience this time.. I was almost dying with extremely busy work by holding a festival in the end of 2007. Fortunately, I did feel refresh and get better after staying Japan for 2 week, doing nothing, eating assorted tasteful food and traveling most of facinating cities not only in Kansi area, namely, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama, Kyoto, Kobe and Hemiji, but also Mie, Toba and Ise.. Koyashan is no doubt still my favourit!!
