Nara was the first Capital of Japan and an amazing day trip from Kyoto or Osaka. Many of the places in Nara are world hertiage sites and its easy to see why. There are two main reasons people go to Nara. The first is to see the Todai-Ji temple. Inside this temple you will find an enormous bronze Buddha and the temple itself is the largest wooden building in the world! The second reason for visiting is to see the deer that roam the streets. My tour book told me that there were 1200 deer in Nara but I felt like there was more. People sell deer food on the streets but watch out once the deer spot that you have food its all over! These deer know what's up and they can get pretty aggressive when they think you have food! The best part about visiting Nara is that you can see lots of things in one day without rushing around since all the main tourist destinations are so close to one another.
