I am always drinking NZ wines back home so naturally, I had to go and experience the awesome wineries of the Hawke's Bay region while on the north island. From Hamilton I went to the bus station and caught an InterCity bus to Napier. I got in at night so I couldn't see the surroundings and it looke…

9:00 am Winery tour with lunch. Today is the Ides of March and I’d heard (from someone on Travbuddy) that Eastern New Zealand saw the beginning of a new day before almost anyone else in the world. That, plus the fact that our room had a great view of the beach across the street, made …

***Under construction, but enjoy it and you can try the recipe**
If you come to New Zealand you must try the iconic sweet dish Pavlova or 'Pav' as the locals call it. It was named after the Russian dancer Anna Pavlova when she toured Australasia during the 1930's, probaly because the cake lo…

Napier has been just what I needed to rest and rejuvenate for some more travel ahead. I have been getting some good coffee at Starbucks (flat whites are not always what a person feels like), indulging in some retail therapy (I couldn't resist, going to foreign films, soaking in spas... …

Hong Kong -› Auckland, New Zealand -› …

I thought I may have left the amazing twisting roads behind on the South Island, but not long after saying goodbye to my relatives and leaving Wellington’s suburbs the motorway narrowed to a two lane road snaking around steep green farm…

I started in Auckland, drove to Rotorua, Napier, Wanganui, and back to Auckland. It was a quick overview of the North Island of New Zealand.

In November 2006 I travelled to the southern hemisphere to live and work in New Zealand and Australia for twelve months. I was in Australia for about two months, and for the rest of the year I lived in New Zealand. I had the opportunity to travel back across the tasman sea three times for short breaks when I was able to get time off work. It was a really good experience to live on the other side of the world for one year.

We took a fair drive via Taupo and Haka Falls to Napier from National Park Village in glorious weather.
Haka Falls was a short boat-trip up the biggest river in New Zealand up from the man-made hydro-dam. We saw loads of different birds and fish on the way-up. It was very pre…

Draft entry at the mo, thought I doubt much more will be written about this place. It's quite strange here- the town was destroyed by an earthquake in the 1930s and was re-built in a strange style: art-deco. It's everywhere. I'm staying at the Criterion Art Deco Backpackers, makes a …

a map and some photos of my slightly unplanned trip around the world. The map outlines the general route I took, not counting the backtracking and double visits.
Currently I am scanning some photos of this trip, but be patient, there are a lot of them!
Argentina - Chile - Easter Island - French Polynesia - New Zealand - Australia - Bali - Hong Kong - Macau - Singapore
