Wonderful garden off the beaten track Sep 18, 2011
Nan Lian Garden is a public garden situated at Diamond Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

It belongs to the Chi Lin Nunnery, a Buddhist temple which is located just in front of the garden.

The garden features hills, rocks, waters, plants and some ancient looking buildings in the classical style of Tang Dynasty. It's all arranged in a really beautiful way.

Some of the buildings are built in a traditional chinese way, where no nails were used and it's all fixed by a special interlock system. Very clever... ;)

Since it's a little bit off the beaten track close to Diamond Hill MTR station/shopping mall, it's not so touristy or crowded there.

It's a really nice place to chill out and escape the bustling streets of TST.

My favorites are the Pavilion of Absolute Perfection with its two gorgeous bright red bridges Zi bridge and Wu bridge and the water curtain at the Silver Strand!

Can take absolutely wonderful pictures there! Oh, and don't try to unfold your tripod there to get extra good shot of the water curtain with long exposure - security will chase you away haha :P

If you're getting hungry, you can have a meal at the vegetarian Chi Lin kitchen there.

Well, I'd definitely recommend going to Nan Lian Garden if you have a spare hour or so and you're tired of all the busy HK streets! :)

A place of quiet in a busy city Aug 16, 2011
Nan Lian Garden is a great place to get some quiet in a busy city like Hong Kong. The moment you pass through the gate the garden overwhelms with it's quietness.

Parts of the garden are paid exhibits, which I skipped, because the rest of the garden is pretty enough to roam around in. It's hard to review, because all in all, it's a Chinese garden. And it's great. As a picture is worth a thousand words, look at the pictures and decide for yourself.

Summary of my time in Hong Kong
The trip really went well I believe. I actually avoided most of the "tourist" areas in Hong Kong and ate a lot of great food. Unfortunately the weather was against me (as it is in most of my trips)…Gardens and Hong Kong park. Both were pale in comparison to the Nan Lian gardens, but the area was pretty…
