Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate!! May 24, 2009

Named one of the 10 great places in the world for chocolate by USA Today, if you are ever in Philadelphia, you must visit this café! Located at 1317 Walnut Street, they have everything from simple chocolate candies to various flavored cakes along with hot and cold chocolate drinks. This is a true café, so they have more than just some of the best chocolate ever. They have many types of coffee’s, teas, and fruity drinks they call Naked Coolers which is just juice and fruit…refreshing, delicious, and healthy.

One of their web sites, they seem to have two, has good information about the café and the owner, along with the addresses to their three locations, and their other web site shows many pictures of their yummy things they have to offer.

Once we finally decided on what to have, we placed our order for three of their desserts and one frozen drinking chocolate. While we were waiting for our order, the person in front of us got something we didn’t see in any of the display cases. I asked about this delicious looking cake and was told by the nice girl behind the counter about a few other things they had to offer. It seems one of the display cases was not working so the items in it were available, just not on display. Good thing one of the regular customers ordered that and we saw it. Of course, we had to get one too, a flourless mocha fudge cake that is!

In the corner of the café, there was a corner couch with big pillows and a large round table, so we sat here and enjoyed our drink and one of the cakes. The drink was so rich and yummy, as was the mocha fudge cake, we were in heaven! We ended up taking home the first three cakes we ordered because we were so full. I think we were both going into a chocolate coma 

All the employees, and the customers in the café, all were very friendly and this is a nice cozy place to sit, relax and enjoy time sitting with friends, or meeting new ones.

We highly recommend a visit to Naked Chocolate Café if you are ever in Philadelphia…even if you don’t like chocolate, but who doesn’t like chocolate!

Chocolate, chocolate and MORE chocolate! Jun 30, 2007
The Naked Chocolate Cafe is the ultimate chocolate experience! Stepping into this cozy corner cafe/chocolatier is like walking into a real-world Willy Wonka chocolate dream. The display case is lined with fanciful chocolates that are almost too pretty to eat. You can sample chocolates with exotic flavors like green tea with coconute, lemon-lavender, Hawaiian lava salt, rosmary, and toasted sesame. There's nut clusters to satisfy any nut lover (peanut, almond, cashew, pecan... ), seasonal chocolates (iridescent leaves, decorated flowers) hand painted chocolate boxes (as in boxes made of chocolate, painted, and used to hold what else, more chocolate!) and candy bars that are just plain fun (white chocolate with gummy bears, dark chocolate with graham crackers).

But the indulgence doesn't end with just candy! That's where the "cafe" part comes in. They also serve a variety of drinking chocolates, teas (some that even bloom into flowers as they brew), coffees and coolers with chunks of real fruit in them. The pastry case is brimming with delectable goodies like tarts, hand iced cupcakes, and nudos, a house dessert that's like a pyramid shaped brownie/soft cookie.

Drinks range from $2-$6, Pastries $2-5. They have pre-made assortments of chocolates, or you could choose your own. I find it the perfect place for thank-you gifts for hosts and such. There is sure to be something so satisfy anyone's sweet tooth.
