This was not what was originally expected as we thought we would be in Nairobi seeing the sights of the capital of Kenya! As it turns out we were back at Karen camp (the place where we waited to be picked up 3 weeks ago). There was a bizarre feeling of Deja vu as we sat around, walked into town and…

After our walk in London, it was real important for some of us (Gail Moore, Janet Hogan and I) to find some place to clean up. We couldn't believe that the London airport had showers! And, they were free, you just had to "rent" a towel. Yes, I said, "RENT a towel."

I got up really early this morning and drove to Mombasa Airport. My flight to Nairobi was on time and only took about 45 minutes. I got into Nairobi and sat for nine hours until my flight to Jo’burg took off. The flight to South Africa was a little over 4 hours. Not …

A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. Kenya -› Nairobi, Kenya -› …
In the summer of 2004 I went to the land of my father. Though loss called me there (my grandmother's passing), I gained so much from my journey. I met family members, rode a camel, went to a crocodile farm, celebrated my birthday, and cried when it was time to leave. Hope to go back soon!!

Nairobi, Kenya -› maasai mara, Kenya -› …
Flew into Nairobi, drove over to the Masai Mara and spent a couple of nights there before driving through Uganda to the border of the Congo. Crossed over and went to the Virunga National Park to see the mountain gorillas. Drove back to Nairobi, on to Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti and finished up in Zanzibar.

So, I spent 8 days in Mozambique, and my basic conclusion is that I would have liked a month.
As a little aside, if I had been a little smarter with my timing, I
could have made it 10 days, which has brought home an important lesson
about planning. It is infinitely preferable to travel withou…
