Karibu!

They waste little time getting us into action with a bus tour of Nairobi (not a highlight of the trip, but interesting to see just once) and then to a Giraffe Sanctuary! Animals, this is what we came to see!! After feeding and having a lesbian kiss encounter with a beautiful, magestic, but sloppy k…

Woke up about 6am and packed up the tent. Had mango, passionfruit, cornflakes and baked beans on toast for breakfast. Left camp at 6:50am and didn't make it far down the road when Sam realised he couldn't get the truck out of first gear. We all hopped out and he realised he couldn't fix it so we ha…

On my ride into Nairobi, it was too dark to see anything and there was absolutely no one on the roads. What a stark contrast to the next day! There were people everywhere and traffic was crazy! One thing I noticed was that all the men wore suits, whether they were legit businessme…

I decided to volunteer with GVN because I really wanted to go to Rwanda. But they couldn't fit me into the Rwandan program and as I love Kenya (I was there after my Honours year doing the safari thing) I got talked into doing the Kenyan Orphanage program instead. For those not familiar with the vol…

After 9 hours journey the plane landed on Kenyatta Airport, Nairobi Kenya. For 2 hours there's nothing to do apart from wandering around at the airport lounge corridor having look around at touristy stuff.

Before I came to Kenya, I had equipped myself with Lonely Planet.
Looking at the color pages and the information inside of the book was
so fascinating. I was so excited to see and about to visit all the
places. I talked to myself, "Should I take all my life savings just to
visit all the places …

I missed breakfast again, probably not eat since I arrived in Africa. Managed to stock up on a few things for he journey. We waited, the hostel staff and I, around for an age for the bus. The scenery was nothing like imagined, very dusty, red dirt, flat plains with sporadic & enormous mounds in ev…

Lamu, Kenya -› Malindi, Kenya -› …
I spent 17 days with some friends in Malindi,Kenya on the Indian Ocean. We flew from Nairobi to Mombasa on a 45 minute flight. We then drove 2 hours to Malindi. For three days we also stayed on the island of Lamu. We ended the trip with 3 days in the Masai Mara national park on a safari.
What an amazing trip. I left the place a new person for the better. Loved it so much, I look forward to returning, especially to see the animals.

As it turns out we were back at Karen camp (the place where we waited to be picked up 3 weeks ago). There was a bizarre feeling of Deja vu as we sat around, walked into town and…
