Up at 6am. Got a lift to school with Daniel. Arrived at school very hungry so I ate my chocolate bar. At 9am, the pre-unit teacher came to my classroom and told me that I was not going to be teaching the little ones any more, just the ones later in the day. I assumed that the arrangement meant that everyday I would arrive at 7am, only to start teaching at 11:30. This means 4 1/2 hours of lesson planning or 4 1/2 hours wasted time. Went to break and had chai. I talked to the other student teac...

The image I took of the leopard was an amazing experience. A colleague at Nairobi University had arranged for a driver to collect me very early so that we could get out into the park at dawn. Which we did, not sure how they managed it but we were the first vehicle on the park that morning. At first we saw very little as it was quite dark but as the sun rose we managed to see more and more. From the lower plain it was hard to see too much so the guide (Harry) decided to get some height. We wen...

7:30 am in Serena Lago Manyara. I am sitting on a hammock in the pool overseeing Lake Manyara. As I am writing, tons birds are all around and every once in a while I have a visit of one of those African insects… sometimes I jump as I am thinking Anofoles (malaria’s mosquito) wants to welcome me. There is no doubt, if you are feeling any kind of stress at work, just follow this travel itinerary! I dont think I have ever been so relaxed… Hacuna Matata (no problem, take it easy in Swa...

Sept. 23: I am currently on the airplane flying to Amsterdam! And Im
flying over the Sahara right now! Nothing but sand for miles Anyway,
this morning was quite the fiasco. I woke up at 4 to make sure I had
time to make myself look decent. I am determined to get off the plane
in Paris looking fresh! I am totally decked out in my Maasai jewelry.
Im trying to go for the Maasai Parisienne look. Haha, talk about a
clash of cultures! We had to leave at 5 to get to Nairobi in time for
my fli...

After struggling for ages for a place to go on holiday, my friend had the idea of going to Africa! As you can imagine I was slightly dubious about gong here but after she showed me the tours we could do I was really excited! We booked the overland tour with African Trails (www.africantrails.co.uk) as after looking round these turned out to be the cheapest and the tours they did looked amazing! Because of uni we could not go on one of the longer tours, so decided on a 25day trip that star...

They waste little time getting us into action with a bus tour of Nairobi (not a highlight of the trip, but interesting to see just once) and then to a Giraffe Sanctuary! Animals, this is what we came to see!! After feeding and having a lesbian kiss encounter with a beautiful, magestic, but sloppy kisser giraffe we

I am starting to understand how foreigners come to Africa and never go home. Life is so slow and easy here. No one seems to be in a rush (except the crazy bus drivers) and everyone seems happy. The funny thing that I have noticed about Kenyans is they are always talking with one another. For example there is 3 taxi drivers downstairs (Peter my friend is one of them) and they sit on rocks all day waiting for business. Every time I see them they are laughing and joking and having the best time....

On my ride into Nairobi, it was too dark to see anything and there was absolutely no one on the roads. What a stark contrast to the next day! There were people everywhere and traffic was crazy! One thing I noticed was that all the men wore suits, whether they were legit businessmen or they were squatting in the yellow orange dust that invaded the city with an overwhelming heat. I walked to the shuttle bus in the morning and noticed quickly that I was the only foreigner...

Da jeg bookede min safari i Nairobi var det meningen, at jeg skulle have en 7-dages safari i en gruppe. Safarien bestod af Masai Mara (2 dage), Lake Nakuru (1 dag), Samburu (1 dag), Mt. Kenya (1 dag) og saa to dages transport. Men det viste sig paa turen, at jeg stiftede gruppe hver anden dag. I Masai Mara var jeg sammen med to japanere...

Kenya is troubled after a heated election was supposedly taken by Kibaki, a leader known for abusing his power. Despite the pain and suffering we now see in this country, I experienced a peaceful, generous side of Kenya, which will hopefully prevail in the coming weeks. The people I saw were hopeful and kind, not at all reminiscent of the rioting wagers of war in the streets today. Please pray for all Kenyans, in hopes that the country will begin the process of mending such a catastrophe.

I spent 17 days with some friends in Malindi,Kenya on the Indian Ocean. We flew from Nairobi to Mombasa on a 45 minute flight. We then drove 2 hours to Malindi. For three days we also stayed on the island of Lamu. We ended the trip with 3 days in the Masai Mara national park on a safari.
What an amazing trip. I left the place a new person for the better. Loved it so much, I look forward to returning, especially to see the animals.
