Nainital Vacation Guide

A quiet hill town in North India, with a beautiful lake and good hiking trails and places. Summer is a good time to visit. From New Delhi there is an overnight train. Compared to some other tourist hillstations in North India such as Shimla and Mussoorie, Nainital is relatively un-commercialized, though in peak tourist season in the summer it is getting increasingly overburdened.

The lake offers yachting, rowing and paddling. The Mall, as the strech along the lake is called, is lined with restaurants, shops, street vendors and hotels. There is a zoo and aerial ropeway. . Very close by are other tourist places with their own lakes such as Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal. Ranikhet and Almora are not far and they give a better nature experience, if you want to get a little distance from the main tourist crowd.
